Tour Overview

Day 1: Departure from Athens | Corinth Canal – Sparta – Mystras
Your journey begins with a scenic drive along the Saronic Gulf, revealing Greece’s mesmerizing coastal landscapes and traditional charm.

The first stop is the remarkable Corinth Canal, a feat of 19th-century engineering that slices through the Isthmus of Corinth, linking the Aegean Sea with the Ionian Sea and separating mainland Greece from the Peloponnese.

We then continue toward the legendary city of Sparta, a land steeped in history and symbolism. Unlike any other ancient Greek city-state, Sparta was structured as a militaristic society ruled by an aristocratic elite and two kings.

This is where King Leonidas and his 300 warriors famously began their march to Thermopylae. Sparta is also the homeland of Helen of Troy and the Mycenaean kingdom of Menelaus, giving it a dual identity of myth and might.

From here, we ascend into the hills above the Laconian plain to explore Mystras, a medieval Byzantine city frozen in time. Surrounded by fortifications and nestled on a steep hillside, Mystras offers a rare glimpse into the grandeur of the Byzantine Empire.

You’ll wander through ancient churches, aristocratic mansions and monastic communities still active today. At the summit, take in sweeping views before descending past the Royal Courtyards and don’t miss the Church of St. Demetrios, where a mosaic of the double-headed eagle still marks the coronation site of Constantine Palaiologos, the last emperor of Byzantium.

Your evening concludes with hotel check-in and time to explore at your leisure or enjoy a refined dinner featuring local Laconian cuisine.

Day 2: Mycenae – Nafplio – Epidaurus – Return to Athens
Following breakfast, we journey to the monumental ruins of Mycenae, one of Greece’s most significant archaeological treasures and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Once the seat of King Agamemnon, Mycenae was the most dominant center of power during the Late Bronze Age and served as the inspiration for Homer’s epics.

During your guided visit, you will explore the awe-inspiring Lion Gate, enter the famed Tomb of Agamemnon and walk among the Royal Graves and ancient fortifications.
The on-site museum provides a deeper understanding of Mycenaean life through its exceptional collection of artifacts.

Our next destination is the elegant seaside town of Nafplio, the first capital of modern Greece.
Here you’ll have time to stroll through its charming Venetian-style old town, visit the imposing Palamidi Fortress and enjoy a traditional Greek lunch by the sea with views of the island fort of Bourtzi, floating in the heart of the port.

We then make our way to the world-renowned Ancient Theater of Epidaurus, a masterpiece of classical architecture known for its exceptional acoustics and symmetry.
This sacred site, dedicated to Asclepius, god of healing, was a center of holistic medicine in antiquity where treatments included psychotherapy, hydrotherapy and even early forms of surgery.

After a full day of cultural exploration, we begin our return to Athens, bringing your immersive two-day experience through the myth, power and glory of ancient Greece to a graceful close.
