Tour Overview

Day 1: Athens – Corinth Canal – Ancient Corinth – Monemvasia
Your journey begins heading west from Athens, offering you the opportunity to enjoy the breathtaking coastal landscapes of mainland Greece on the way to the Peloponnese.

Our first stop is the legendary Corinth Canal, a feat of 19th-century engineering that slices through the Isthmus of Corinth, connecting the Aegean Sea (Saronic Gulf) with the Ionian Sea (Corinthian Gulf).
The views from the bridge above are absolutely spectacular and perfect for photos.

Right after the canal, we’ll make a short stop at Ancient Corinth, one of the most significant city-states of antiquity.
Here, you’ll explore the Temple of Apollo, an impressive Doric structure dating back to the 6th century BC, as well as the archaeological site that brings classical Greece to life.

After your cultural immersion, we’ll enjoy a relaxed lunch in a traditional taverna in the area, savoring local Peloponnesian flavors, before continuing our scenic drive to the southern tip of the peninsula.

Sit back and enjoy the three-hour ride to the enchanting medieval town of Monemvasia, famous for its Byzantine and Venetian castle built into a rocky island and connected to the mainland by a narrow causeway.

You will have the chance to stay overnight within the walls of the castle, in charming stone-built apartments that offer both comfort and authentic character depending on your accommodation preferences.

Monemvasia is more than a destination it’s a journey back in time.
Stroll through the narrow cobbled alleys, visit historic mansions and churches and browse local craft shops for unique souvenirs.

In the evening, enjoy a traditional dinner at a local tavern with warm hospitality and exceptional value.

Day 2: Monemvasia – Sparta – Mystras – Return to Athens
After breakfast, we’ll drive to the legendary city of Sparta, located at the base of Mount Taygetus.
Once the powerhouse of ancient Greece, Sparta was renowned for its military discipline and unique social system.

Known as the homeland of Helen of Troy and King Menelaus in the Mycenaean era, classical Sparta developed into a dominant military society governed by two kings and a strict code of honor.

It was from here that King Leonidas and his 300 Spartans marched to glory at the Battle of Thermopylae in 480 BCE.

From Sparta, we continue to the captivating site of Mystras, a UNESCO-listed Byzantine ghost city built on a steep hillside.
Mystras preserves a rare combination of medieval churches, palaces and noble houses, blending Byzantine architecture with Frankish elements.

As you walk toward the citadel at the summit, panoramic views of the Laconian landscape unfold.
On your descent, you’ll encounter royal courtyards and remarkable fresco-filled monasteries many of which are still active and welcome visitors.

A powerful highlight awaits at the Church of St. Demetrios, where a two-headed eagle plaque the emblem of Byzantium marks the spot where Constantine Palaiologos was crowned the last emperor of the Byzantine Empire.

After your exploration, you can enjoy a relaxing lunch in a picturesque village taverna, before we begin our return drive to Athens, bringing your two-day journey through history, culture and natural beauty to a memorable close.
